Francisco Salas

I really love Surrealist paintings and it was such a pleasure to see some more contemporary stuff yesterday at the Carlsten. It isn't as dark and odd as Rene Magritte, but the subtleties of the theme of domestication versus violence is so well executed and understated. I especially love the portrait of the girl; her hair looks deceivingly normal, until you look closer at it and you realise that the tips of each strand seem to represent a snake's head. Not to mention, I love that he's from Wisconsin.
