kibbutz?
SO I just found out some new information on the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company of Israel and the history of its name. The word "kibbutz" refers to a collective community that is or at least was, traditionally based on an agrarian lifestyle. The kibbutz is a form of communal living that combines Socialism with Zionism. Also, kibbutzim began as utopian communities, though they have now evolved. So with the KCDC, all the dancers live cohesively on the kibbutz. It's so self sufficient and somewhat experimental. It reminds me of the way of life of students at Black Mountain College. This all is really attractive to me and I just want to move out to Israel and audition for this indie-esque company! They seem very unpretentious and unassuming- exactly what art should be.
